Gregory H. Floyd Sr., 58, of Bristol, loving husband of Patricia (Dube) Floyd, died on Sunday (May 24, 2009) in New Britain.


He was born October 20, 1950 in Tuskegee, AL and was a son of the late Alfonso and Alvesta Floyd, Sr.


He was a Security Guard at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, Div. Of UTC, Cheshire, for 37 years. He attended Tuskegee Institute, Tuskegee, AL, and while attending school there he played baseball and football.


In his younger years, he was a member of Beulah AME Zion Church, Forestville, and was a member of the Junior Usher Board, Junior Choir, Buds of Promise and active in the Sunday School. He enjoyed camping with his family and loved classic cars, especially his 1970 Mustang Boss 302. He was well known for his great sense of humor. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.


Besides his loving wife, he leaves to mourn two sons and their girlfriends, Gregory Floyd, Jr. and Tracey Stolle of Bristol, Jerrett Floyd and Dileimy Pajes of Bristol; a daughter, Shawnte Floyd also of Bristol, Kristy Lagasse who was like a daughter to him; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Patricia Floyd, Sr., of Bristol, Jerome and Darlene Floyd of Bristol, Alfonso and Kris Floyd, Jr., of Bloomfield, a Marvin Conner of Fairfield, AL; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sharon Floyd-Barnett and Mike Barnett of Bristol, Melanie and John Micucci of Bristol, Rev. Mary Haynes of Middletown, who was like a sister to him; three grandchildren, Jillian, Isaiah and Jaylean Floyd; his grandfather, Pastor Eddie C. Whitehead, Sr. of Bristol and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.


The Funeral will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Beulah AME Zion Church, 138 Circle Street, Forestville.
Burial will follow in Peacedale Cemetery, Bristol.
Calling hours will be held on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at DuPont Funeral Home, 25 Bellevue Avenue, Bristol.
