GLOUCESTER - Ruth Simpson Hart Gray, 91, died Feb. 5, 2003, Blacksburg. She was the daughter of Ernest and Carrie Simpson Hart and the wife of the Rev. C. Katon Gray, all deceased.
Ruth was the mother of three sons who, with their spouses, survive her, William and Carol Capel Gray of Richmond, Robert and Kathy Harty Gray of Alexandria and James and Linda Howell Gray of Blacksburg; grandmother of Rafael Gray of Washington, D.C., Donald and wife Lynn Lester Gray of Richmond, Paul Gray and wife Amoret Bunn of Pasco, Wash., and Suzanne Gray Ventriglia and husband Gary of Havertown, Pa.; and great-grandmother of Liza and Erin Gray of Richmond.
She and her husband served United Methodist churches in Portsmouth, Botetourt and Montgomery counties, Roanoke, Richmond, Virginia Beach and Gloucester County. Ruth served her Lord with gladness and trusted in His goodness.
A funeral will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Bellamy United Methodist Church, Gloucester, followed by burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Portsmouth. The family will receive her friends at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point, today from 3 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. In our mothers memory, should friends desire, please send any memorials to the C.
