AGED KNIFE LAKE LADY IS CALLED
Death of Mrs. Amos Boyd Occurs Sunday Morning After Long Period of Illness.
Many friends were grieved to learn of the death of Mrs. Amos Boyd of Knife Lake township at her home Sunday morning, January 16, 1944, at 5 o'clock, just a few hours after her 78th birthday on January 15. Mrs. Boyd had been in poor health for several years and was confined to her bed for the past ten weeks.
Mrs. Amos Boyd, nee Henriette Albertina Schaddock, was born January 15, 1866, in Brandenberg, Posen, Germany. After the death of her mother she and her sisters and brothers immigrated to this country in 1872 to join their father, who had preceded them to America, the family settling near Manchester, Wisconsin, where she attended school.
She was baptized as an infant in Germany and was confirmed in the German Lutheran faith in the Ev. Lutheran church in Manchester. Wis.
At the age of 15 she moved with the family to a farm near Farmington, Wis. As a young woman she worked at various household jobs in Burkardt, Wis., St. Paul, Hudson and Stillwater.
On June 24, 1893, she was united in marriage to Amos Boyd of Stillwater. To this union two children were born, Irving John, who died in infancy, and Esther Sarah, who is county superintendent of schools of Kanebec county.
In 1896 Mr. and Mrs. Boyd moved to a farm in Kanabec county, living there and on an adjoining farm.
For a number of years she was an active member of the Golden Rule Rebekah lodge of Mora. She also enjoyed membership in the Merry-Go-Round club of the neighborhood in which she lived.
Mrs. Boyd is survived by her husband, Amos Boyd, and daughter, Esther.
Funeral services will be held at the First Presbyterian church of Mora this, Thursday, afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. Stanley A. Wick officiate. Mrs. Wick will sing "Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling" and "It Is Well Wih My Soul." Miss Evelyn Olson will accompany her. Pallbearers will be William Lindstrom, John Bentz, Earl Dalbey, Franz Hoffert, Edward Bernett and L.C. Welton. The remains will be placed in the Oakwood cemetery vault until spring.
