Deceased Name: Pearl Kimball Derrick
Pearl Emma Kimball Derrick, age 90, passed away on June 23, 2000, in Salt Lake
City due to natural causes.
Pearl was born March 31, 1910 to Heber C. Kimball and Pearl Elizabeth Smith
Kimball in Tooele, UT, the oldest of six daughters. She was raised in Salt Lake
City and graduated from West High School.
She married Elwood Glade Derrick on May 4, 1934, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
They were blessed with four daughters. During their married life, they lived in
Omaha, NE, Chicago, IL, and Phoenix, AZ; returning to Salt Lake City in 1961.
Her life was filled with love for her family, service to the Lord, and the
enjoyment of good friends. Pearl cherished her pioneer heritage and enjoyed her
association in the Daughter's of Utah Pioneers and all the church auxiliaries.
Her greatest loves were teaching the gospel and missionary work. She was a guide
on Temple Square, a hostess in the Church Office Building and a missionary at
Pioneer Village at Lagoon. She loved to learn and gave many book reports.
Survived by her four daughters, Yvonne (Leonard) Fisher, Danville, CA, Kathleen
(John) Pyper, Houston, TX, Dorothy (Roger) Felix, Pleasant Grove, Janice (Steve)
Curtis, Salt Lake City; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and sisters,
Marjorie Giles, Barbara (William) Fraser, both of Salt Lake City. Preceded in
death by her husband; and sisters, Zola Andrus, Virginia Geisler, Betty Whiting.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Holladay
Health Care Center and Dr. Steven Fehlauer for their loving and sensitive care
of Pearl.
Services will be 12 noon Thurs. June 29, at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel,
3401 S. Highland Dr., where family and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wed. and
10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
