Wenatchee World - May 26, 1997

Larry Snodgrass, 49, passed away at the University of Washington Medical Center Friday afternoon, May 23, 1997, with his wife, Melissa, and mother, Violet, at his bedside. He left a daughter, Shari, a brother, Richard, and his father, LeRoy.

Larry was born in the Deaconess Hospital in Wenatchee March 1, 1948, where he later worked as an orderly.

He went through the Wenatchee school system, participating in most sports, football, wrestling, track and baseball. He was NCW heavyweight wrestling champion while in high school, participating in the state tournament and several others. Larry enjoyed Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball, playing on the All-Star team his final year.

As a young man he tried a little bit of everything. He rodeoed, attempting to ride broncs and bulls. He owned and drove a stock car, and entered a demolition derby in Oroville. He skied, especially cross country, and played on many broomball and slowpitch teams. He even tried pool, darts and bowling.

Larry was a volunteer fireman, a member of the Eagles Lodge and the American Legion. He was a tow truck operator, an ambulance driver and a mortician's helper at one time. He spent most of his life as an auto body and fender man, until he became too ill to work.

He was preceded in death by his son, Brad.

He loved animals, spending lots of time with his Grandpa Ben riding horses as a youngster, and had at least four dogs with him in later life.

He married Melissa Rau June 3, 1987, and became great friends with her entire family, particularly her parents, Ann and Ernie.

Larry was an outdoor person who loved to hunt and fish and have fun with his family and friends who miss him already.

Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
