Raymond Pfau, 73, Racine, Wis., died May 21, 2004, in Woodstock, Ill.
Raymond H. Pfau was born Nov. 23, 1930, at Racine, Wis., the son of Joseph and Mary Eva (Hertz) Pfau. Raised in Mandan, he graduated from Mandan High School, and attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa and the N.D. School of Forestry in Bottineau. He received his master degree from Gateway Technical Institute. Ray served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951 to 1953. He taught at the North Dakota School of Forestry for 15 years, and then at the Gateway Technical Institute in Kenosha, Wis., for another 15 years until he retired in 1988.
A man of many interests, Ray's vocation was also a hobby since he really did enjoy plants. He was very involved in genealogy, and liked attending plays and symphonies. Very family oriented, he often traveled to visit his family members around the U.S., and had been to every state except Alaska. Ray often was the initiator of family reunions. A Green Bay Packer and New York Yankees fan, he also loved photography. He held memberships in the American Legion, the Germans from Russia Heritage Society in Bismarck, the Germans from Russia Heritage Society in Lincoln, Neb., and was a member and treasurer of the Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter of AHSGR.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister and brothers-in-law, Monica and Ben Seitz and Joseph Schafer; his brothers, Frederick and Philip Pfau; a nephew, Johnny Michael Severance; and his aunts and uncles.
