Shirley Ruth Blanchette of San Bernardino, born in Syracuse, New York on December 5, 1923, had lived in San Bernardino for 27 years, died May 4, 1981 in San Bernardino at the age of 57. She was a retired secretary at Norton Air Force Base and belonged to the Childrens Home Society Casas Ninas Chapter, American Business Womens Association, Arrowhead Power Squadron - Arrowmates Auxiliary, Shark Island Yacht Club, Newport Beach, Hollywood Yacht Club and associated with Elks Navy, Newport Beach. She was survived by her husband, James E., M. D., sister, Mrs. Jean Gordon of Bowie, Maryland, four aunts, Mrs. Pearl Batten, Miss Naomi Brisco and Miss Ola Brisco, all of of St. Petersburg, Florida and Mrs. Elsie Slawson of Lakehurst, New Jersey, six nieces, two nephews. Graveside services are set for 2:30 p.m. on Friday at Montecito Memorial Park with Bobbitt Memorial Chapel directing. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
