His mother, Nancy, died 6/6/1808 and had just been married three years. James was the only child of this union. James' father, Joshua Brantley, remarried to Temperance Ann Radford.
I am wondering if perhaps Nancy died in child birth. She was only 23 years of age. Guess we will never know.

James was married to Lucinda Sentell on 10/19/1828 in Walton County, Georgia. I did not find her on a census record with him, nor do I know where she is buried, perhaps in Walton County, Georgia.
The 1860 & 1870 Wayne County, Missouri census show James M. with a wife named Mary. There is an older daughter Margaret, who was born about 1857. Levy (s/b Levi) L. (s/b. Lee) Brantley is shown as being born about 1865.
There is a 21 year old named Thomas Redman - I think this is most likely a brother to Mary C. Brantley. If you know, please contact me.
