Jacob Knabb, senior proprietor of the Berks and Schuylkill Journal and Reading Times, died last evening at 8 o'clock, in the 72d year of his age, at the residence of his father-in-law, James Jameson, 35 North 6th. He was afflicted with valvular disease of the heart, and was attacked with paralysis about three years ago, but recovered sufficiently to attend to his editorial duties until a month ago, since which time he has been confined to his room gradually growing weaker. Tuesday morning he was attacked with a slight stroke of paralysis, but he appeared to improved during the day, and his death was unexpected. He retained consciousness to the last and passed calmly away without any apparent suffering.

His first marriage was to Ellen C Andrews in 1846. His second marriage was to Ellen Jameson in 1879. He adopted Catharine, d/o brother Daniel. She died at age 19 and is buried in his plot.
