Noel E. Hodges, age 79, of 507 N. Harrison St., Ludington, died Friday, April 23, at Memorial Medical Center following an extended illness.

Noel E. Zook was born Nov. 17, 1919, in Ludington to O.C. and Carrie (Meers) Zook. She grew up in Ludington where she attended school graduating from Ludington High School in 1936. After high school she attended Michigan State University.

She was married in 1945 in Ludington to Jacques K. Vorce and he died in 1949. She married Richard Hodges in 1950 in Ludington and he preceded her in death in June of 1996.

She first worked for the Ludington State Bank and then was the social editor of the Ludington Daily News from 1939 to 1942. From 1942 to 1946 she worked as a stenographer for the Bureau of Social Aid. Her hobbies included knitting and reading.

Surviving are one son, Ronald (and Betty) Hodges of Ludington; four daughters, Diane (and Barry) Pearson of British Columbia, Canada, Kay DePree of Lake Otswego, Ore., Jane (and Vern) Keson of Benton Harbor, Sarah (and Duane) Cook of Ludington; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one son, Richard Hodges Jr., one grandson, Todd Hodges, one son-in-law, Harold DePree, and one brother, Warren Zook.

Services for Noel E. Hodges will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Dorrell Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. John Christensen officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery.

There will be no public visitation.

Memorials may be directed to Orchardview Adult Foster Care Home of Custer or to Hospice of Michigan for Mason County with envelopes available at the funeral home.
