CLARIS WILMER KUNTZ
Claris "Pat" Wilmer Kuntz, 84, of Greensburg, died Friday, March 9, 2001, at Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg.
Born July 15, 1916, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Oscar and Florence (Swinford) Hawkins. She married Casper Wilmer Sr. and he preceded her in death April 21, 1964. She then married Joseph Kuntz, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1981.
Survivors include two sons, Norbert Wilmer and Casper Wilmer Jr., both of Greensburg; four daughters, Mrs. Denby (Sherry) Israel of Burney, Mrs. Roger (Marianna) Beckett and Mrs. Ronald (Katie) Ledford, both of Greensburg, and Mrs. Tom (Martha) Sneed of Hartsville; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Carl (Margaret) Kroger of Greensburg and Mrs. John (Rita) Veerkamp of Shelbyville,; one sister, Mrs. Robert (Doris) Harrison of Greensburg; 15 grandchildren; 16 step-grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 22 step-great-grandchildren; and several step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin Hawkins and Melvin Hawkins; two stepsons, Charles Wilmer and Lowell Wilmer; one sister, Lois Baylis; five grandchildren; one step-grandson; and one great-granddaughter.
Mrs. Kuntz graduated from Flat Rock High School. She was a homemaker and owned and operated Pat's Hosiery Shop in the former Leader Shoe Store in Greensburg, a Tupperware sales representative, and a driver and an assistant for the Senior Citizens Center.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Women of the Moose and St. Lawrence Auxiliary.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Greensburg, with the Rev. Steve Schaftlein officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, with the Rosary being recited at 6 p.m. at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home, Greensburg. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church in care of funeral home.
