Zella Ross was a good wife. She was a devoted Christian, a loving mother, a willing worker, but most of all a good wife. For almost sixty years, she was a faithful companion, comforter, and inspiration to her husband, the Rev. J. Stanley Ross. Her presence provided fa r more strength than was ever necessary to see him through the trials he faced as he sought to serve God and his fellow man as a devoted layman and beloved Pastor. They truly shared a love which is eternal.
Mrs. Ross was born on February 17. 1895, in Grayson County, Virginia, the daughter of Lon and Lucy Catron Cornette. She died suddenly and unexpectedly on May 30, 1976, following surgery in a Roanoke Hospital. She is survived by her husband, the Rev. J. Stanley Ross: their son, Mr. W. Sterling Ross; two brothers; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. The funeral was on June 1, 1976, at the Thorn Spring United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Paul Smit h and the Rev. Clifton Anderson officiating. Burial was in the Highland Gardens in Dublin, Virginia.
Those who knew Mrs. Ross were cheered by her presence and will long remember her warm-hearted courage in the face of pain and suffering. Her unselfish thoughtfulness of others and her cheerful disposition were truly an Inspiration. Her earthly presence will be missed, but we look forward to seeing her smile again in Her Father's home.
