LeRoy Axel Rapp, age 83 of Cannon Falls, died on Tuesday morning, May 26, 2009 at the Cannon Falls Medical Center.

LeRoy was born on April 4, 1926 in Cannon Falls, the son of Axel and Olga (Nordquist) Rapp. He attended rural country school near Cannon Falls.

He served with the US Navy during WWII from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946. He was an electrician by trade, and worked at Prairie Island for more than 20 years until retiring. He enjoyed playing cribbage, and in his younger years he enjoyed golfing and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Randy on November 10, 2007; sisters, Rosella Holm and Doris Banks; and brothers, Henry, Raymond, Conrad, Marvin and Arnold Rapp.

He is survived by his wife, Marian (nee Larson) Rapp; their sons, James "Jim" of Cannon Falls, Jon of Red Wing, Thomas "Tom" and Barry, both of Cannon Falls; granddaughter, Poy Nitmai of Red Wing; sisters, Clara Samuelson and Lucille Callstrom, both of Cannon Falls; brothers, George (Clarise) and Virgil (Doris) of Cannon Falls; sisters-in-law, Norma Rapp of Welch and Lenora Rapp of Cannon Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 29 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10-11 a.m., at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, with Pastors Gary Schulz and Carol Sinykin presiding. Interment with military honors will follow at the Cannon Falls Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Conrad Rapp, Allen Callstrom, Roger Callstrom, David Rapp, LaVerne Rapp, and Bob Rapp.
