Caroline J. Cline Phillips, age 86, of Englewood, Ohio, passed away Friday, May 23, 2008, at her residence at Grace Brethren Village. She was born April 29, 1922, in Darke County, Ohio, a daughter of the late Earl and Ella Stooksberry Cline. Caroline retired from the Vandalia-Butler City School system, after several years of service, and was a member of Polk Grove United Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, David I. Phillips, in 1996; and six brothers and sisters, Ora Cline, Elsie Murphy, Clarence Cline, Ralph Cline, Bill Cline and Louise Turner. She is survived by: a son, Jerry Phillips, and wife, Alice, of Englewood; two daughters, Joni Graham, and husband, Edward, of Englewood, and Carla Lane, and husband, Kenneth, of Greenville; seven grandchildren, Tim Kuehl, and wife, Susan, Kristin Gartrell, and husband, Mike, Kela Plamper, and husband, Eric, Cody Lane, and wife, Bri, Jerred Graham, Kevin Graham and Edyn Graham; four great-grandchildren, Emily, Anna, David and Jordan; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, at Polk Grove United Church of Christ, 9190 Frederick Pike, with Rev. John Fowler officiating. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Teegarden Cemetery, Route 47, Ansonia, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Caroline's memory may be made to: Hospice of Dayton; or the Polk Grove United Church of Christ Memorial Fund. Arrangements are being handled by Morton and Whetstone Funeral Home, in Vandalia.
