Charles Austin was born July 29th, 1819 in Steuben County New York and departed this life June 11, 1904, at Montezuma Iowa.
He was united in marriage to Amanda Dennis, his school mate, June 10, 1842, who departed this life eight months ago.
In 1844 he with his helpmate moved to Kane County Illinois.
He United with the Church of Christ at Mayfield, Illinois, in 1862 and moved to Iowa in 1869 and settled near Deep River.
In 1900 he moved to South Dakota and after remaining there for three years, returned to Iowa where he spent his remaining days.
He was the father of ten children, of whom four preceded him to the better world.
Mrs. W. Spence, Mrs. J. H. Grier, of Des Moines, Mrs. Law, Mrs. J. Moore, Charles and George Austin, of Montezuma who still survive him.
The funeral took place from the residence of Wm. Law, June 14, 1904 conducted by Elder J.H. Stark minister of Church of Christ after which the interment took place in the near by cemetery to await the Eternal roll call.
Father, brother, friend, farewell till we meet again.
