Audrey N. Shales, 71, of Wenatchee, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at Central Washington Hospital after an extended illness. She was born on August 12, 1934, in Hebren, ND to John and Bertha (Spoer) Ahl. The family moved to Everett in 1937, and then to Wenatchee in 1948, where she graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1952. After graduation, she worked for The Wenatchee World for a short time. She worked for National Bank of Commerce and the Rainier Bank as a secretary to the presidents of these banks.
Also, she was the Secretary/Bookkeeper for Shales Masonry Construction Company for 22 years. Audrey married Lyman Shales on July 20, 1956. She loved being with her three sons and her grandchildren and extended family. She was an outstanding cook and gardener. Her and Lyman traveled extensively to Arizona, where they had their winter home and also enjoyed their cabin on the Wenatchee River in Plain, WA.
She was member of the Wenatchee Golf and Country Club and enjoyed the game of golf. Audrey was baptized at the Okanogan Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband, Lyman of the home; her three sons, Todd, Tim and Jeffery Shales, all of Wenatchee; her two grandsons, Tyler Shales and Brett Shales of Peshastin; her two brothers, Jim (Janice) Ahl of Portland, OR and Rodney (Evon) Ahl of Wenatchee; her sisters-in-law, Donna (Jim) Uecker of East Wenatchee, Charlotte Johnson and Linda Shales, both of Wenatchee; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Bill Shales.
Service of Commemoration will be held at 12 Noon on Monday, June 12, 2006, at King's Orchard Church of Christ, Wenatchee. Private Family Interment will be at Wenatchee City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Betts Memorial Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Alzeheimer's Association. Services are under the care of Betts Funeral Service.
