Frederick Dan Huntington was an American clergyman, author, and the first protestant Episcopal bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Central New York in 1868. He graduated from Amherst College in 1839 and Harvard in 1842. He was pastor to the South Congregational Church in Boston from 1842 to 1855 and was a preacher to the University and Plummer professor of Christian Morals at Harvard from 1855 to 1860. He severed his relationship with the Unitarian Church and resigned from Harvard to become pastor to the new Emmanuel Church of Boston. He founded St. John's school, a military school, in 1869. Some of his written works are: Christian Believing and Living: Sermons (1860), Memorials of a Quiet Life (1874) and The Golden Rule Applied to Business and Social Conditions (1892).
