William Nelson Gower was born Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada 6 March 1837, son of James Ragens and Almira (Thurston) Gower. He died in Calais, Washington, County Maine 15 September 1917.

Two of his brothers John V. Gower Find A Grave # 37586815 and Enoch Gower Find A Grave Memorial# 37563744 were Civil War Veterns and are buried in the same graveyard.
