Reginald L. Pinkerton Sr., 82, of Long Pond, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 25, 2009.

He was the loving and devoted husband of Ethel (Thomson) Pinkerton and shared 62 years of marriage.

Reginald was born in Chester County on Nov. 17, 1926, the son of the late LeRoy E. and Vivian (Henry) Pinkerton.

He was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Frazer.

He graduated from West Chester High School, class of 1945.

He served our country with dedication and courage in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

He had worked as a driver for National Rolling Mills in Malvern for 21 years until retiring.

Reginald had spent four years on the police force for the East Whiteland Township Police Department. He was also a fire police officer for the East Whiteland Volunteer Fire Company.

Reginald was an avid hunter and enjoyed many years of surf fishing with his wife.

He loved children of all ages and was a lifetime member of the Lehigh Quarter Midget Racing Club of Long Pond. He was also an Assistant Scout Master of the Boy Scout Troop #76 in Frazer.

He was a skilled mechanic and handyman and enjoyed helping others whenever he could.

We have been blessed with the presence of Reginald in our lives and he will be deeply missed by his wife, Ethel; his children, Reginald L. Pinkerton Jr. and his wife, Bunnie, of Wind Gap, and Kenneth Pinkerton and his wife, Rebecca, of Elsmere, Del.; a brother, Stanley Pinkerton of Downingtown; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Pinkerton; a brother, James Pinkerton; and a sister, Shirley Mahres.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 28, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home Inc., Route 209, Gilbert.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, at the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Frazer, with the Dr. James R. Moyer officiating.

Interment will be in Covenant Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Frazer.

The Donald N. Gower Funeral Home Inc., Route 209, Gilbert, is in charge of arrangements.
