Mounkes-Steffen
Mr. Carl Chester Steffen and Miss Delia Demaris Mounkes were united in Marriage by Captain Rucker at the parsonage at Council Grove, Kans., Monday, April 21st, at high-noon.
The groom is the son of C. Steffen, of Newark, Mo., and is a highly respected progressive young farmer, of Newark, Mo.
He served eight months in the U. S. Service at Camp Funston, Kans., and was supply sargent at that place. The groom wore the conventional black.
The bride is the daughter of Elisha Mounkes an wife, of Americus, a lady of unusual grace and charming personality and will be greatly missed in Norrhern Lyon county and the community where she is going can consider itself lucky to receive her.
The bride was charmingly dressed in white satin and Georgetti crepe. Only a few of the bride's relatives were present at the wedding.
Those present were the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elisha Mounkes, a sister, Mrs. Alva Johnston and husband, two brothers, Robert Mounkes and wife, three sisters of Gypsum City, Mr. and Mrs. Geo Mignot and Mr. and Mrs. Irl Tinkler and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Darling.
The happy couple returned to Americus where they will visit the bride's parents a few days and after a brief honey-moon they wil be at home at the groom's farm at Newark, Mo., where they go with the best wishes of the Journal and a host of other friends.
