Charles E. Witzke, 85, of 1062 Sturtevant St., Red Wing, died at City Hospital Sunday afternoon. He had been hospitalized since March 3.
Born at Wausau, Wis., April 17, 1881, he was the son of August and Pauline Witzke. When a child, the family moved to Hammond, Minn., where he resided until 1920. Since that time had lived in Red Wing and was employed by Milwaukee railroad for 55 years. He retired in 1953.
His marriage to Luella Schultz took place at Zumbrota April 1, 1910.
Surviving are his wife: one daughter, Mrs. Viola Leeson of Rochester; one son, Merrill Witzke of Red Wing: two grandchildren and two great grandchildren; one brother and five sisters.
Funeral services will be at Ferrin-Sanford Funeral chapel Wednesday at 9:30 a. m., the Rev. Fr. Derham Ryan officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood cemetery.
Friends may call at Ferrin-Sanford funeral chapel Tuesday from 2-9 p. m. and Wednesday from 9 a. m. to the time of services.
