Charles Wilbert ‘Wib' Wilson

Charles Wilbert "Wib" Wilson, 76, Greenfield, brother of a Shelbyville resident, died Tuesday at Hancock Memorial Hospital.

Born Jan. 28, 1923, in Mount Comfort, he was the son of Pearl W. and Nora (Sullivan) Wilson. On July 4, 1947, he married Virginia (Swarts) Wilson, and she survives.

Mr. Wilson was a veteran of World War II, serving as a Seabee in the U.S. Navy. He was a systems analyst engineer at Koorsen Protection Services for 20 years, until he retired in 1989. He had worked at Coddington Packing Co, Mount Comfort, earlier.

He was a charter member and past chief of the Buck Creek Township Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the McCordsville Volunteer Fire Department, where he served 47 years. He was a member of the Hancock County Civil Defense Board for several years. He was a member of the Indiana Volunteer Fireman's Association.

Mr. Wilson was a member of the former McCordsville Masonic Lodge, which has merged with the Eden Masonic Lodge.

Other survivors include three daughters, Sallie Mae Lancaster, Sun City, Fla., Judy Ann Wilson, Greenfield, and Bonnie Lou Godfrey, Lawrence; one sister, Patricia Bird, Shelbyville; one brother, Sam T. Wilson, Naples, Fla.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

One sister and two brothers preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Ronald L. Seals Funeral Home, Fortville, with the Revs. Donald G. Bradley and Severin Messick officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Fishers.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Buck Creek Township Volunteer Fire Department or McCordsville Volunteer Fire Department.
