WORLD WAR I VETERAN

Stephen Moravek was born in Czecko, Slovakia on 16 June 1888. He was born to Slovakian parents, Paul and Mary (Kapsa) Moravek, who passed away in the United States state, at Washington State.

On 23 March 1909, Stephen with his parents and siblings, immigrated into the United States, via New York.

Stephen was inducted into the United States Army on 12 July 1911, assigned with Company D, 19th Infintry, 18 battalion. He was honorably discharged on 11 August 1920, as a Sargent.

During his military service, on 7 November 1917, at San Antonia, Texas, Stephen became naturalized.

Shortly after his service, on 24 June 1926, in Pennsylvania, Stephen married Susanna Elizabeth Haynal (30 Jan 1894-9 Mar 1989), another immigrant from Slovakia. Together they had two children, Anna-Marie (Moravek) Valentiny (18 July 1927-14 mar 1974) and Paul Hynal Moravek (21 Jun 1929-28 Oct 1981).

While a member at the Washington Veterans Home, on 26 Fedruary 1959, Stephen passed away. He was layed to rest in the Home's cemetery, at Retsil, Washington.
