He was born June 6, 1921 in Burr Oak, the son of the late John Artamius and Josephine McNally Dew.
He worked in the coal mines and lumber yards and was a member of the Glouster Eagles Ares # 406.
Harry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a Pfc in the 8th Field Artillery Observation battalion, having served in Normandy, Northern France, Belgium, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He landed on the Normandy Beach on his 23rd birthday June 6, 1944. He received the Good Conduct medal, American campaign medal, European African Middle Eastern campaign medal with 5 bronze stars and the French Jubilee of Liberty medal.
Survived by step-daughter, Judy Campbell (David) Rooker; grandson, David Lynn (Stephanie) Rooker; step-great-granddaughter, Cindy White; sisters, Dorothy Agnes Ebright, Ruth Marie Snyder, Ethel Eveline Hooper; sisters-in-law, Gladys Louise (Manford) Merckle and Mary Jo Glanemann; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Marie Glanemann Campbell Dew (August 3, 1983); brothers, Dale Dayton, Charley Dutton, Guy Joseph, Manley Eugene, John Henry and David Dew; step great-great-grandson, Christian Manuel Garcia; special friend, Virgene Thomas.
Internment will be in Dew Cemetery, Burr Oak, where military grave side service will be conducted by Corning American Legion Post 327.
The family would like to thank all the nurses that cared for Harry at the Fairfield Medical Center.
