She was born February 7, 1922 in Windsor to the late Philip and Delia (Ewen) West.
Marion spent most of her life in Windsor, graduating from John Fitch High School in 1940, and working for Aetna Life & Casualty before her retirement. For the past ten years, she had lived with her daughter in South Carolina.
She was involved with the Windsor Democratic Town Committee, was an avid Bridge player, loved to read, and solve crossword puzzles.
She loved being able to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They always made her smile. Marion will always be remembered for her generous and selfless nature.
She is survived by her son, Michael P. Slipski and his wife Barbara of Windsor; her daughter, Delia S. Phillips and her husband Donald of Graniteville, SC; a sister, Anna Marie Andryzeck of East Granby; four grandchildren, Michele, Denice, Theresa, and Erika; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Alexandra; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Philip, George, and William; and two sisters, Edna DeGray and Ellen Gaylord.
Her funeral will be held from the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor, on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gabriel Church, Windsor, at 10 a.m.
Burial will follow in Windsor Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
