Obituary from the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, dated Friday, May 22, 2009, page B2:

Karen Elaine Arms-Hadley, of Fairbanks, died May 2, 2009, at the age of 44. Karen was born March 3, 1965, in Cottage Grove, Ore., to Eugene and Nancy Arms. Karen will be dearly missed, loved and remembered by all who knew her. The wide open spaces of Alaska never ceased to amaze and thrill Karen. Earlier in her life, Karen had the opportunity to travel widely, but Alaska became her home. From riverboat rides and climbing trees in the summer to walks on frozen rivers in the winter, Karen's enthusiasm was unbridled. Her greatest joy was caring for her family and friends. Her open heart and caring ways deeply touched everyone she came into contact with.

She is survived by her sons, Jeremy Hadley of Eugene, Ore., Chris McCabe and Shaun Ostnes, both of Fairbanks; daughters, Carrie E. Hadley of Springfield, Ore., and Michelle Ostnes of Anchorage; her mother, Nancy L. Arms of Cottage Grove; domestic partner, Donald McCabe Jr. of Fairbanks; her sisters, Shirley A. Allen, Sally A. Arms, and Missy K. Sisco, all of Cottage Grove, Renee M. Leonard of Salem, Ore., Donna S. Larkin of McMinnville, Ore., and Jeanette L. Wong of San Marcos, Calif.; brothers, Tony L. Arms and Timothy M. Arms, both of Hillsboro, Ore.; two grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Arms; and brother, Don Arms of Cottage Grove. A service and celebration of Karen's life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements were provided by Chapel of Chimes Funeral Home.
