John Thomas Hunt was the son of James Madison Hunt and Penelope Brides.

He married Margaret Ann 'Maggie' Underwood on Dec 28, 1875 in Glasgow, Barren Co, Kentucky.

They moved in about 1884 to what was then Indian Territory and is now Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma. A number of other Underwood family members moved to Indian Territory in about the same time period.
