Caroline Wilhelmine Potthast Rohlfing was born in Germany on August 28, 1866 and died on November 10, 1940, at the age of seventy-four years, two months and thirteen days.
She came to America with her parents in the early part of the year 1868. Her early years were spent in the vicinity of Berger, MO, where her mother died when Caroline was seven year old. Caroline and her brother Fritz Potthast, were left to make their home with the Fritz Fahrmeier family in Berger Bottom. Their father Friedrick Potthast went off to make a new life.

On October 20, 1887, Minnie (as she was known to those that loved her), was united in marriage with William L. Rohlfing of Senate Grove, MO. To this union were born two daughters and three sons. The oldest daughter, Amelia preceded her mother in death by nearly 10 years.

William and Minnie lived first in Senate Grove, then Berger and finally in Hermann, MO. They enjoyed a long and happy married life together having only recently celebrated their fifty-third wedding anniversary.

Minnie took an active part in all of the communities where she and William lived, particularly in the affairs of the church. She attended the Methodist Church until her health failed several years ago and she was confined to her home.

Minnie was beloved by all who knew her, a kind and generous neighbor and friend and a cheerful patient during her long illness.

Minnie was survived by her husband William L. Rohlfing of Hermann, MO, her daughter Alice Brinkmeyer of New Haven, MO, her sons Arthur and Alvin Rohlfing of Berger and son Albert Rohlfing of Van Buren, MO. One brother Fritz Potthast of Senate Grove and a half-brother Julius E. Potthast of Phoenix, Arizona: seven grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 14, at one o'clock in the chapel of the Blumer Funeral Home in Hermann, with interrment at Senate Grove cemetery. Rev. John A. Morgan of Hermann and Rev. Theo Wolff of Berger officiated.
