Marjorie was the daughter of Charles Ezra and Maggie Ellen Briggs Garred. She had six brothers and sisters: Bernice, Amy, Herbert, Jim, Howard, and Jenny.
----
Marjorie was 17 years old and in the eleventh grade. She knew what she wanted to do with her life: be a schoolteacher. She loved kids and couldn't wait till the end of the school-year so that she could be a teacher.

Then Marjorie went to her cousin Nina's wedding and met her destiny--Lewis Emmons. After a whirlwind courtship, he proposed six weeks later, and she had a tough choice to make. In 1922 married women could not be teachers, so if she married Lewis, her dream of being a schoolteacher would never be fulfilled.

Marjorie chose love and married Lewis...and moved into the home he shared with his father and Uncle Gene. It was an interesting start to a 41-year marriage, a marriage that ended when the driver of the car in which she and Lewis were passengers failed to yield to another car.

But their marriage hasn't really ended, it just moved to another location: heaven...
