Hall of Fame Professional Football Player. Born Ewell Doak Walker Jr., he was an All-American running back at the Southern Methodist University when he won the Heisman Trophy 1948. Drafted by the Detroit Lions in 1949, he received the Rookie of the Year Award in 1950. For six seasons he played with the Detroit Lions (1950-55), led the NFL in scoring twice in 1950 and 1955, and tallied 534 points in his career with 330 on field goals and extra points. He was voted All-Pro five times (1950-51, 1953, 1954-55) and he helped lead the Lions to two NFL Championships in (1952-53). The Detroit Lions retired his number 37 jersey and he is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1986.
