Memorial services for 42 year old Jefferson native, Keven Dagit, who worked in Iraq, will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2005 at First United Methodist Church, Jefferson. Interment will take place at a later date at Dawson Twp Cemetery, Paton, Iowa.

Friends are invited to greet the family Thursday, September 29, between 5:00 – 7:30pm at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson.

Keven Kim Dagit, son of Lloyd and Gloria (Scroggins) Dagit, was born March 19, 1963 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Keven grew up in Jefferson, Iowa. He was in Scouts, and attended Jefferson High School.

Keven lived and worked in Rogers, Arkansas from 1981-1989. In 1990, he took basic training in the Navy. From 1990 – 1995, Keven worked for his family's moving business in Jefferson. He also drove a truck for TMC, a company in Des Moines, for seven years. On March 16, 1994, Keven was married to Donn Schultz. Two children, Kira and Kylie, were born to this union. Keven and Donn were divorced seven years ago.

Keven was a member of First Baptist Church in Jefferson. He helped build the new church building in 1989. Keven loved the outdoor, adventuresome life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and 4-wheeling. He was an avid boater and water skier. Most importantly, Keven loved spending time with his daughters and family.

Currently, Keven was employed with Kellogg, Brown & Root - Halliberton Company. Keven had been working for KBR for over a year in Iraq. He drove semi trailer trucks, delivering supplies such as concrete, gas or food. Keven desired adventure and travel. He was patriotic, and wanted to help others.

Keven Dagit lost his life on September 20, 2005 near Balad, Iraq, when enemy insurgents attacked his convoy. Keven was 42 years of age. Preceding Keven in death were his grandparents: Titus and Ethel Dagit, and Jessie and Mae Scroggins; a sister, Kecia; and a brother, Daniel.

Surviving are Keven's parents, Lloyd and Gloria Dagit of Jefferson, Iowa; two daughters: Kira and Kylie Dagit of Jewell, Iowa; two brothers: Randy Dagit and his wife Carolyn of Bentonville, Ark, and Brian Dagit of Rogers, Ark; a sister, Teresa Lentz and her husband Kevin of Jefferson, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
