Douglas Hale, 77, of Amarillo died Monday, Jan. 3, 2011.

There will be no formal services at Mr. Hale's request. Inurnment will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.

Douglas "Banky" Hale was born in Tampa, Fla. He graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1951. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict, retiring from active duty in 1972.

Douglas was a member of the Khiva Shrine, American Legion, BPO Elks Lodge, VFW Post 1475 and Moose Lodge 1361.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva, in 2007.

Survivors include a daughter, Michelle Hale of Amarillo; a sister, Shirley Hale of Tampa; three brothers, Roy, Ray and Randy Wiley, all of Florida; a sister, Nancy Perez of Florida; and many nieces, nephews and cousins, all of Florida.

Douglas' friends and family are invited to come pay their respects and celebrate his life from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Beef O'Brady's in Amarillo.
