Ellen Oarson November 30, 1925 to February 2, 2000
Ellen Marie Parson, 74, Bismarck, formerly of Minot, ND, died Wednesday, February 2, 2000 at a Bismarck medical center. She was born November 30, 1925 in Lowland Township, Mountrail County, ND. Their closet town was Coulee, ND. She attended country school and later attended and graduated from the Donnybrook High School in 1943. She taught in a country school house in the Donnybrook area after passing her teacher's exam. Then she worked for a time as a telegrapher for the Great Northern Railroad.
In 1944, Ellen and Donald Wood were married at the Methodist Church at Donnybrook. They lived in Donnybrook, Carrington, and Plaza, ND. She worked for the People's State Bank of Plaza for about 10 years. They later moved to Minot where she worked for the First National Bank and Trust. Don preceded her in death.
She later married Donald Oarson. They lived at Peoria, IL until he died. She moved to Bismarck, ND where she was a nanny for Dr. Mark Hart's son, Brian, until she retired.
She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and attended the Little Flower Catholic Church and the Saint John's Catholic Church, all of Minot, ND.
Survivors include her daughter, Jackie Oss, Aberdeen, SD; sons Joel Wood of Hazen, ND; Jan Wood and Jerel Wood, both of Corpus Christi, TX; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren, sister, Jeanette Feldner; brother Neal Merrill.
A memorial service was held in the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home in Minot with burial in the Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, ND in the spring time.
