"In Town and Township - SOUTH PLATTE"
Mrs. Carl Porth, a well known lady in South Platte, died Monday night at her home after a long illness. She had a toe amputated early in the winter and instead of giving her relief she grew worse and weaker all the time. Mr. and Mrs. Porth and her children came to Hall county, South Platte township in the fall of 1878, bought a farm and have lived here ever since. The deceased leaves to mourn her loss a husband and three children, C. A. Porth and Mrs. Anna Uden, residing here, and Mrs. Minnie Graf living in Idaho. She will be laid to rest in Highland [sic] cemetery as soon as the daughter from Idaho arrives.
