Enlisted in Michigan Inf 10th Reg. Co D in Feb 1862. Discharged 5 Feb 1865 at Sisters Ferry, Georgia. Under Israel Huckins and fought at Battle of Murfreesboro in TN where he lost three fingers, June 1862 contracted malaria in Mississippi. He was in Sherman's March to the Sea later a member on the cattle drive that Sherman took with him. Married to Emily Wixson (in Michigan), Elizabeth Corsant then Mary Golledge. 19 children.
