John F. Olsommer Jr., 64, of Roemerville, Canadensis, died Saturday, May 9, in the Golden Living Center, Scranton.

Born in Scranton, son of the late John H. and Alberta M. (Labar) Olsommer, he was a lifelong resident of Roemerville.

Prior to his retirement due to illness in February, John had been employed as an electronics technician at the Tobyhanna Army Depot for more than 30 years.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of American Legion Post 274, Gouldsboro, a former member of Post 922 American Legion, Cresco, and a former member of the Promised Land Volunteer Fire Company.

He was of the Methodist faith.

He is survived by two sons, Edward J. and Todd J., both of Canadensis; a grandson, Eric of Hamlin; two brothers, Gary of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Robert of Mount Cobb; and a sister, Roberta Schultz of Canadensis.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, in the Arthur J. Frey Funeral Home, Route 191, Village of LaAnna, South Sterling. Tammie Crews, Tobyhanna Army Depot chaplain, will officiate. Interment will be in Greentown Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, at the funeral home.
