President of South Korea. He served as president of South Korea from February 2003 until February 2008. Prior to becoming president he worked as a human rights lawyer. At the time of his death he was being investigated for alleged bribery charges, stemming from charges that he had accepted money from a prominent South Korean businessman. He committed suicide by jumping to his death from a rocky cliff near his home in Bongha, South Korea. The 62 year old former president left behind a suicide note, apologizing for his role in the political scandal and expressing a desire not to be a burden to his family. He left behind instructions asking to be cremated and have a small memorial headstone erected near his retirement home.
