African American Baha'i Enrolled in the 1930s

First wife of W. E. B. DuBois, civil rights activist. Daughter of C. S. Gomer, Jeannette Pease. Mother of Burghardt DuBois.
Balck History

I was aware W.E.B Du Bois (1868-1963) met Abdu'l-Baha during his visit to the United States. However, it wasn't until last year when I read the article in the link below that I discovered W.E.B Du Bois admired the Baha'i Faith and had long-running connections with many Baha'is. His wife Nina Gomer Dubois became a Baha'i in the 1930s. In the mid-1950s he wrote: "If I were going to join a religious organization I should certainly be strongly tempted to join the Bahá'í movement because of its broad principles, its international and inter-racial program." He was aware of the Baha'i Writings, quoted them in letters to Baha'is, and was involved in activities held by Baha'is.
