Veronica Lynn Phillips-Owens, 33, passed away March 7, 2009, at St. Mary's Medical Center of Scott County in Oneida.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Willard and Eva Coffey Pike and Dillard and Frances Duncan Phillips; great-grandparents, Johnson and Lettie Jeffers Duncan; and special friend, Bill Harold.
She was saved at the age of 16, at Tunnel Hill Baptist Church, where she remained a member.She worked at Dollywood for eight years starting in the Country Fair and then the accounting office. She was a member of the Scott High Band Boosters, and was employed as a substitute teacher with the Scott County School System. She enjoyed working with children, reading her Bible, and playing with her nephew.
She is survived by her parents, Steve and Sharon Phillips, her husband, Jason Owens, one brother, Matthew Steven Phillips and wife, Amanda Rose, and special nephew, Matthew Steven Phillips, Jr., all of the Cherry Fork community; mother-in-law, Sharon Owens, sister-in-law, Emily Perryman, and niece, Whitney Brown, all of Sevierville; aunts and uncles: Vickie and Martin Webb, Wanda and Bobby Cotton, Mickey and Diana Pike, Wonnell Pike, Lola Mae and Harrison Smith, Harold and Judy Phillips, Clendon and Ernesence Phillips, and Virgie Little; great-uncle and great-aunt: Sherman Pike and Ellia Hughett; special friends: Gale and Pauline Harold, Fayetta Litton, and Patricia, Danny, Jerrod, and Bradley Terry; and many other relatives.
Funeral service was to have been conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 11, at Tunnel Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Lowe and Rev. Jimmy Griffith officiating. Music was provided by Jimmy and Sarah Byrd. Interment followed at Pike Cemetery.
