Leroy Lessig, 82, 480 Knott Street, Mitchell, died at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday July 24, 2007, at his residence. He was born May 10, 1925, in Bedford, the son of Orville and Julia (Cole) Lessig. He married Imilda Grogan, and she preceded him in death on July 1, 2001. He was a retired foreman at Ingalls and McMillan stone mills and retired from Indiana Limestone Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include three sons: Orville Lessig and wife Janet of Huron, Randy Lessig of Bedford, and John Lessig and wife Marie of Mitchell; one daughter, Faye Gibson and husband Monroe of Shoals; one brother, Roy Lessig of Sarasota, Fla.; one sister, Janet Miller of Iowa; and 11 grandchildren. His parents, wife, one granddaughter, Julia Lessig, and nine brothers and sisters, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Cresthaven Funeral Home in Bedford. Entombment will be at Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Graveside rites will be given by American Legion Gillen Post No. 33 of Bedford.
