Lenora Stewart, 80, of Tulare passed away Saturday, July 7, 2007.

She was born in Muskogee, Okla. She was a nutritional dietitian at the University of California, Berkeley, retiring after 22 years.

Lenora was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Temple Church for more than 40 years. She served as an usher, Sunday school teacher, treasurer, missionary vice president, kitchen worker and any other positions in need. She also was a district usher in the P.A.W., as well as state usher. She was a 4-H instructor and worked with pregnant teens. She was the "neighborhood mom" in the Matheny Tract.

Lenora was preceded in death by one son, Marvin Steward, and one sister, Ira Bell Hooks.

Survivors include seven daughters, Violetta Smith of Tulare, Danetta Hayes of Tulare, Madelyn Eastland of Bakersfield, Doris McMillan of Tulare, Darlene Smith of Los Angeles, Deidra Smith of Pasadena and Sherry Smith of Pasadena; six sons, Ricky Stewart of Santa Rosa, Elroy Smith of Tulare, Ray Smith of Tulare, Kenneth Smith of Tulare, Leroy Smith of Corcoran and Roy Smith of Pasadena; a brother, David Hooks of Waggoner, Okla.; three sisters, Drucella Smith of Wichita, Kan., Magnolia Johnson of Tulsa, Okla., and Altus Wynn of Las Vegas, Nev.; 35 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
