He was born April 2, 1928, in North Creek, Ohio, the son of Robert and Rebecca (Morris) Rue. On June 27, 1953, he married Blanche Ellen Caryer, who survives in Continental. He retired from GM Powertrain in Defiance in 1988. He was an Army veteran who served in Korea and was a member of the Defiance Church of the Nazarene. Also surviving are nine sons, Tom (Joanie) of Grover Hill, John (Kim) and Dan all of Continental, Tim (Roxanne) of Evansport, Ohio, Jim (Theresa), Randy (Lynn), and Ron (Denise), all of Defiance, Dave (Kim) of Ottoville, and Sam (Stacey) Rue of Oakwood; two daughters, Barb (Denny) Heinonen of Kalamazoo, Mich. and Chris (Richard) Baldwin of Cecil; a brother, George (Gladys) Rue of Wauseon, Ohio; 28 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashley Rue; a daughter-in-law, Cheri Rue; two brothers, John Henry and Thomas Edward Rue; and a sister, Mary Bock. Services were held Monday, Jan. 12, at the Heitmeyer Funeral Home in Continental, with Pastor Don Leonard officiating.
Burial was in the Monroe Cemetery, with graveside services conducted by the Continental American Legion. Preferred memorials
