Services for Don Addington, 66, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church Main Sanctuary with the Rev. John Ballard officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock. He died Friday, April 20, 2001. He was born Feb. 15, 1935, in Lubbock and married Trina Stephens on Nov. 16, 1956, in Lovington, N.M. He was a graduate of Lubbock High School and Wayland Baptist University. He served with the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 and then went into Green Beret Special Forces in 1963. He worked with the Lubbock Police Department from 1957 to 1963 and then became self-employed as a cattle buyer. In November 1974, he began working with the Lubbock County Sheriff's Department and, in 1981, began the Sheriff Academy and Bomb Squad. He became assistant jail administrator in 1985 and became the jail administrator in 1987. He retired in November 1998.

He was a member of the Lubbock Lions Law Enforcement Club, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, John, Jacky and Jerry, all of Lubbock; his mother, Esther of Lubbock; a brother, E.L. Green of Lubbock; and two grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to American Heart Association or a favorite charity. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
