Vera Ruth (Austin) Egan, 101, of Albany Oregon died Friday.

She was born in Loretto Nebraska and has been a school teacher in Nebraska before marrying Clarence Egan, June 12, 1922. In 1937, the Egans moved to Albany and in 1938 to Tangent OR. Mr. Egan died before she did.

Mrs. Egan was a housewife and mother. She also worked picking farm produce and candling turkey eggs. She worked at the Albany Post Office before retiring.

Mrs. Egan attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she taught Sunday school for 25 years. She is known to many of her students as "Grandma Vera."

Surviving are sons Merlin and Robert, both of Albany, James of Millville, Calif and Richard of Salem, 24 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be until 5 p.m. today at AAsum Funeral Home. Mrs. Egan's funeral will be at 10:30 am Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1615 28th Ave. SE.- In Albany OR.

Contributions in her name may be made to her favorite charity, Northwest Medical Team, P.O. Box 10, Portland OR. they may also be sent to the medical team in care of AAsum Funeral Home, 805 Ellsworth St SW Albany OR 97321.
