David and Mary Elisabeth lived on a farm in Russia, 20 miles from Saratov, where all their children were born. They were operating an Inn at their home. People from the villages going to the city would stop overnight, and also coming back. The boys drove oxen during plowing time on the farm in Russia. They had big St. Bernard dogs which they hitched to a sled to haul water in the winter-time. They lived near a woods and had a baby deer which they kept until it was grown, then it ran into the woods. There was a spring nearby, the water flowed over a waterfall where they would take showers in the summer-time. The water was sparkling clear. They had all kinds of fruit trees and berries in the garden. It was beautiful there and all would love to see the garden again.
