Vivian Rolston Greenslade was the first child of Smith Edward Greenslade, founder of Greenslade Drug Company in Kaufman, and Maud McGowan. He grew up in Kaufman, completed four years of college, and became a druggist like his father. He served in World War I. (On his draft card, he spelled his middle name "Rolston" so that is the spelling used here.) At age 28 he married Stella H. Tippett on October 12, 1926 in Kaufman. They had no children.

He died of coronary thrombosis at the age 55 years.
