Stamford - Emma Nauert Blackwell, 91, of Stamford, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2005, at the Stamford Memorial Hospital where she had been a resident in the respite care wing for the past year.
Mrs. Blackwell was born September 5, 1913, in Priddy, Texas, in Mills County to Herman and Linnie Nauert.
She moved from Priddy to the Plainview Community in southern Haskell County in 1916.
She married J. M. Monroe Blackwell on September 29, 1945, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sagerton, Texas. Since 1948, they lived on a farm in the Plainview Community where they farmed and ran cattle in Haskell and Jones Counties. Emma lived on the farm until the last year when she moved to the respite care wing of Stamford Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by 2 sons and 1 daughter in law - Lloyd and Veta Blackwell of Lames, Texas and Larry Blackwell of Stamford; 1 daughter Lanell Blackwell of Arlington, Texas; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 1 brother Herbert Nauert of Belleville, Arkansas,; 1 sister Hilda Kieke of Stamford, Texas; 4 sisters in law - Delores Nauert of Bellville, Arkansas, Betty Brueggeman, and Emma Gentry both of Stamford, Texas, and Frances Arend of Haskell, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Monroe Blackwell in 1981, 1 son Claude Allen Blackwell in 1975, 3 brothers - Richard Nauert, Edwin Nauert, and Herman Nauert, 3 sisters - Ella Nauert, Olga Nauert Maruugg, and Annie Nauert Klose.
Pallbearers will be nephews - Leland Nauert, Leroy Nauert, Wilbert Klose, Johnny Kieke, Dwain Nauert, and Dwayne Blackwell.
