Jesse Barnes Kennedy, 81, 341 West Tenth, died at 4:10 p.m. Friday at the Clifton Nursing Home where he had been a patient since January. He was born in Noble Township on August 17, 1874, a son of Robert and Mary Barnes Kennedy. His wife, Mrs. Florence Sipe Kennedy, died April 28. 1952. Mr. Kennedy attended Applegate Grade School and Orange High School. He formerly was employed in the Railway Mail Service on the Pennsylvania Railroad between Pittsburgh and St. Louis. After retiring from this occupation in 1931, Mr. Kennedy was engaged in farming in Noble Township, although he resided at the West Tenth Street address. A member of the Orange Christian Church, Mr. Kennedy also was a 50-year member of the Orange Masonic Lodge and was a member of the Knights Templar here. He is survived by one son, Donald S. Kennedy of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one daughter, Mrs. Ross Marquis of Indianapolis and four grandchildren, Mrs Phillip C. Kidd of Houston, Tex., Mrs. Robert J. Schmoll of Greenville, S.C , Mrs. H S. Mosley of Indianapolis and Mrs. Robert E Jones of Rushville. The Rev. Dexter Wasson will conduct funeral services at the Wyatt Moore Memorial at 1:30 p.m. Monday with interment in East Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the memorial beginning Sunday morning.
