Son of Capt Elijah Cushing and Elizabeth Barstow. Grandson of Hon. Lieutenant Colonel John Cushing and Deborah Loring, Captain Joseph Barstow and Mary Randall.

Husband of Lucy Turner, the daughter of Captain Thomas Turner and Mary Bryant. They were married 24 Sep 1761 in Pembroke and had seven children:

Nathaniel Cushing lived in Hanson, formerly Pembroke, Massachusetts. He served in the French and Indian War in 1762 as Ensign in 2nd Pembroke Company of Col. Clapp's Regiment, also in the Revolutionary War as a private. Private, Capt. Elijah Cushing and Capt. John Cushing's company from April 21, 1775 to Dec. 24, 1776.
