George Allen Burnette, age 76 of Wilderness Road, Dublin passed away Monday, Feb. 9, 2004. Born Nov. 8, 1927 in Pulaski County, he was the son of the late Charles Tony & Molly Peak Burnette. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Margaret Lovern Burnette; five sisters, Bethel Wilcox, Alma Leader, Guida White, Peggy Kunsman, Effie Burnette; three brothers, Frank Burnette, Gilmer Burnette and Ray Burnette. He was a retired employee of Klopman Mills with over 30 years of service. Surviving are his brothers & sisters-in-law, Don & Martha Burnette, Pulaski, Bill & Juanita Burnette, Salem, Jesse Burnette, Pulaski; daughters & sons-in-law, Linda & Tommy Reed, Christiansburg, Shirley & Ray Duncan, Dublin, Wanda Heslep, Radford; six grandchildren, Teri (Reed) Helms, Pulaski, Deanna Roope, Radford, Kristie Duncan, Dublin, Shawn Reed, Christiansburg, Miranda (Whitt) Harden, Danville, Tammy Duncan, Dublin; five great grandchildren, Katelynn Cowan, Samantha Nichols, Maddison Nichols, Emma Helms and Megan Harden. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski with Pastor Delores Shelton officiating. Interment will follow at the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Bower Funeral Chapel, 1631 Bobwhite Blvd., Pulaski. The family will also be meeting at the home of his daughter (Wanda Heslep) 102 Ridgewood Lane Apartment C, Radford (behind Harvey's Chevrolet) off Auburn Avenue. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all Hospice caregivers, Dr. Mayo and staff and Pastor Delores Shelton. Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski is handling the arrangements.
